Alan Montgomery was born in Liberty, Indiana, and has lived the last 30+ years in Oberlin, Ohio. He was originally an opera coach and conductor, but in recent years has turned to writing.
His passions include musicals – he has written two and conducted many – and operas. The range of operas in his repertoire range from Monteverdi to Britten, and embrace standard and substandard repertoire.
His first book was all about Opera Coaching. Then he turned to fiction, publishing first The Further Adventures and Life of Jack Dawkins, also known as The Artful Dodger. This book was revised heavily and expanded to include a second portion which brings Oliver Twist back to the story. The Further Adventures of Gentleman Jack and Mister Twist – the Artful Dodger and Oliver Twist was published early in 2014. In between, he wrote the delightful series of short stories: Fifteen Tales for Christmastide.
“Welcome to my corner of storytelling, where familiar characters find new life and timeless tales take on fresh meanings. Writing these books has been a journey of discovery, and I’m thrilled to share them with you. If you’ve ever wondered what happens beyond the pages of Oliver Twist or have a love for reimagined classics, I invite you to dive into these adventures. Every story is crafted with heart, and I hope it resonates with you as much as it did with me. Thank you for visiting, and I encourage you to explore my books – I’m confident they’ll take you on an unforgettable journey.”
Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any thoughts or questions about my work – I’d love to hear from you!
